Mamata warns Center of agitation if funds not released within 7 days

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has set a seven-day ultimatum for the Center to release funds for various projects, including the 100 Days of Work initiative. Banerjee emphasized the reluctance of the Center to disburse the due funds, stating that despite repeated demands, the outstanding amount remains unpaid.

The Chief Minister said, 'If the central government does not release funds, we (TMC) will start a massive protest. 'Highlighting the outstanding dues, the West Bengal government claims that a substantial amount, including Rs 9,330 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Rs 6,900 crore under MNREGA, is owed by the central government.

She highlighted her displeasure with the State Congress's pro-BJP statements, complicating the alliance dynamics. Banerjee affirmed that Trinamool Congress is set to organize a substantial program in February to demand the recovery of overdue funds, hinting at the party's intention to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently.
